Carbon dioxide basically. Other greenhouse gases are also carbon based - methane and the CFCs. But they aren't looking at them yet or really at all. N2O is another greenhouse gas too but not carbon based. CO2 and methane are the most important. Carbon monoxide turns into carbon dioxide pretty rapidly.

NOx and SOx are acid rain/deposition precursors and sulfur also forms aerosols responsible for regional cooling, but that is a whole other couple of problems. I have done research myself on sulfur emissions mitigation/abatement etc.
