Fernando, go to versiontracker.com and download Tinker Tool. It lets you turn off the bouncing icons, and has lots of other useful customization options as well, like left- or right-justifying the dock, or showing hidden file icons, or maintaining the aspect ratio of scaled desktop pictures (I use this all the time--it should be the default setting).

>>Man what I hate is the bouncing ICQ Icon when I get a message or any other Icon .... If I am working on Excel and I get a message the machine works sluggishly due to the bouncing Icon.... this should be optional entirely...<<

Fernando -

It is entirely optional, and you don't need third-party software to make it so, though Tinker Tool does sound interesting.

To turn off the bouncing icons, open System Preferences, select the Dock, and un-check the box at the bottom where it says "animate opening applications". Voila. No more bouncing.

You might think that this would only affect what happens when the app starts up, but it actually stops the bouncing altogether.
