Apples rapid decline under Amelio has reduced market share to a point, that the jury hammers Bill Gates for unfair use of monopoly. 2000 Microsoft split 3 ways. software arm teams with Emachines to add Windows 99 to their colorful line of tr-boot machines. Apple beleagured with financial woes stops producing hardware and focuses on a line of colorful mouse-pads. 2001 The tech industry hit hard by economic crises of dot com fallout. Apple falls back to niche business of customizing existing Mac models. Users love their old Macs and Apple offers inexpensive upgrades. The Mac Plus with USB, Firewire, wireless internet connectivity and a 10 inch LCD panel becomes a big hit! Third party vendors offer colorful transluscent chassis.
