Keith: To say that I disagree and disagree strongly with your view of the past is not sufficient I know, but frankly I have little taste for going over ground which has been discussed practically ad infinitum on this thread and others.

I would suggest that Dr J's statements at Cannes were right on the money and that the hatchet job by the Financial Times reporter was what caused a tempest in a teapot controversy. The main thrust of his words of caution about the readiness of a WCDMA (UMTS) meaningful commercial launch has been proven right in the event - and has yet to happen in fact to date. Let's wait and see, shall we, as to magnitude and timing. Sadly what seems most likely are small islands of UMTS in Europe in a sea of GSM/GPRS sometime in the future - date to be determined.

Suggest we just agree to disagree on what happened in the past and agree that looking ahead, the earlier a working fully functional UMTS is installed widely in Europe, the better for Qualcomm.
