I'll wait for the facts to be revealed before I jump to conclusions but can make three educated guesses - (1) the trading of option-like contracts on underlying commodities or instruments which had not before been traded caused huge trading losses, (2) these losses were probably concealed for awhile, perhaps from senior management, and (3) the missing documents at Arthur Andersen could reveal that they were part of an inadequate disclosure.
