Roger, Arthur Anderson is the auditor for more than 1000 public companies. Perhaps we can begin by shorting Arthur Anderson.

Regards,

Tom

Roger, You should note that many of the senior people in Finance at Enron are former AA employees. Makes this revelation all the more suspect.
I am not so sure that AA is any more lenient than all of the other audit firms. Seems to me that most of them make more money from consulting than from their audit function, creating the inherent conflict that reveals itself periodically. Essentially, I think we should all learn that audited statements don't mean what they once meant, and can't really be relied upon. I think it is sad that the checks and balances that are supposed to be in place (auditors and regulators), simply don't have the resources, inclination, or ability to do their job properly.
I'll get off my soapbox now.
