Bear on Internet Security : -- Before Open -- Bear Stearns believes the Internet Security market is poised for growth in 2002; firm believes spending will improve in 2002 due to heightened awareness of the problem of unsecured networks. Bear believes it will be a good year for firewall/VPN, IdnA, and antivirus vendors and predicts the hype surrounding biometric security vendors will fizzle; recommends investors invest in best-in-class vendors, notably SNWL, ISSX, NETA, and SYMC. Bear also would not be surprised to see a big acquisition amongst either ISSX, NETA, or SYMC and could see vendors like IBM, HWP, or BMC make a big push into the market.
