*On* topic ... I grabbed some Jan 01 45 puts (ANQMI) @ $1.00 today. Although AMAT broke 47 yesterday, I think it's due for a short pullback.

OT tides:

The moon draws a bulge of water towards it.
The earth rotates once a day, and each spot on the earth faces the moon once a day.
So why are there 2 (rather than just one) high tides per day?

I agree with your point. I find it particularly interesting in regard to ethanol, which takes a lot of energy to produce - at least as it is now being produced. The energy required to produce it is generally disregarded when the consideration to require the blending of ethanol with gasoline -to save fosil fuel - is addressed.
