Eric L: Opinions differ. That is what makes horseracing.

Rather than go over all this old ground once again, let's focus on the substance, i.e. where Qualcomm is in the real world, and leave the stock price (where it was, is and will be to) the market.

Best as always.

Chaz

In ONE DAY the CEO of a S&P 500 corporation reduced the value of his corporations valuation by 20% (40% in 2 weeks from the time he departed for Europe and when he returned).

If you wanna blame him for 40% falling price then you should also credit him for increasing your holding value by 8 folds as of today.

He did it consciously

Absolutely! And it is better than keep the truth under the lid, or better than slip the truth unconsciously.

his name is often proceeded by the word "controversial"

Name me one single person that has no controversy.

I consider Dr, Irwin Mark Jacobs conduct in Europe to be inexcusable

And I think it is very inexcusable for someone to cheap shot a great man like Dr, Irwin Mark Jacobs by full force just because his holding going down from 16 folds up back to 8 folds up. It seems to me this someone is very obsessed with a truth that being told by not just IMJ, but also the heads of other big names like Intel etc.

I expressed my opininion on this last year here and I am now doing so again.

Not just again, but again and again and again. If you think it's a tiring act, so do we.

Eric,

I would like you to explain why Qualcomm is not profitable on a pro forma basis much less a GAAP basis

Qualcomm's financial statements are very confusing. As you remember, I also have had issues in the past with the way Qualcommm chose to exclude certain one-time charges on a pro forma basis while at the same time certain one-time gains were included. Regardless, a lot of the complexity is reduced to simplicity (possibly oversimplification) in my mind by looking at the free cash flow (cash flow from operations minus capex). In FY2000 and 2001, the company generated $628 million and $577 million, respectively, in free cash flow.
