Susan: "Holding a trade overnight is a gamble." It surely is. There was a market when this was not so, when holding overnight often brought extraordinary gains the following morning; stocks gapping up at the open and moving 5, 10 or 20 points more. This was insanity, I knew it was insanity, but it sure continued for an awful long time. But that market is over. I usually carry nothing overnight as I too prefer to sleep and not worry. Occasionally I will hold something overnight; if it closes at 90% of the day's trading range and I'm long...or it closes at 20% or lower when I'm short.
