Seoul, Jan. 11 (Bloomberg) -- Samsung Electronics Co., Korea's fourth-largest mobile maker, won a 2 trillion won ($1.5 billion) mobile-phone order from Sprint Corp.'s cellular subsidiary, the Korea Economic Daily said.

Under the contract, Samsung will supply Westwood, Kansas- based Spring Corp. (PCS Group) with 3 million code division multiple access technology (CDMA) phones that allow faster data downloading and access to the Internet this year, the report said, citing an unidentified Samsung official.

The contract is renewable annually and could be worth up to 10 trillion won, the report said.

Samsung remained profitable in the third quarter, even as its main product, computer memory chips, fell in price. The company increased sales of mobile phones that feature advanced technology.
