Enron and its employees contributed $57,499 to campaign
committees for Ashcroft, previously a Republican senator from
Missouri, in 1999-2000, according to Holly Bailey, researcher for the
Center for Responsive Politics.

Dear Scott,

Somehow the rich always make out. Kenneth Lay is a close personal friend of the Bush family,
both father and son. Lay contributed a great deal of money to John Ascroft's re-election campaign
in MISSOURI. The amount of money contributed may have exceeded federal requirements but
I am not sure without looking back at earlier posts which indicate that a corporation can contribute
only $2,000. Ashcroft received around $50,000, I believe.

"What a legacy he is leaving."

Well, Kenneth Lay gave George W. Bush, our President, a great deal of money for his various campaigns.
