Dan:

Last week copper moved up 4.7%, lead up 4.1%, nickel up 4.1%, gold up 3.0%. The industrial metals moved up more than gold.

In my opinion, TA is not an effective tool for gold. The price of gold is moved up and down by the central banks' manipulations, hedging and derivative trading activities.

Excluding gold, TA is effective for sector fund analysis. The recent data (last three months) are more significant than the older data.
