That would reduce the number of puts you could buy. Yes you would get money for the calls but your broker would probably require some level of cash as margin for the short calls and this would probably be a higher amount of cash then what you would get from selling the calls.

Yes this would apply to mere mortals like you and I, but Kapkan has made a point of bragging about his enormous fortune so I don't think the margin would be a problem. Otherwise you're right.
