before the state of the company was widely known, the Bush administration
would have been aware of the true condition of Enron while Mr. Lay was
promoting a different story on Wall Street.

Kinda like IF Clinton had prior knowledge of Riadys having the only other low sulfer coal facilities, and he did something like grab a whole bunch of land in Utah......oh wait, that happened.

Enron WAS huge,General Motors is huge,General Electric is
huge,Microsoft is huge,the list is huge.You bet the major board members of these corporations have telephone numbers
to high government officials.
The handling of many officials including GW was done correctly.No denial,no deceit,no blaming all up front.
Something they did not learn from clinton and the demo-lib playbook.
