The more employees there are in these acctg firms, the easier it is for employees to hide mistakes by cohorting together, i think. Afterall, it's easier to hide in a huge crowd as compared to hand full of people. In small firms though(that's where my experience lies), you face the partners(owners) head on, and it's easier for your performance to be scrutinized and monitored.
