OSI Systems Announces Earnings To Exceed
Expectations for 2002 Fiscal Second Quarter as
Result of Increase in Security Product Sales

HAWTHORNE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 14, 2002--OSI Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:OSIS - news)--

Second quarter revenue expected to exceed $29.5 million
Company expects it will report earnings per share of between $0.10 and $0.11 versus $0.07-$0.08 per share
analyst expectations

OSI Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:OSIS - news) today announced that it expects earnings per share for its second quarter of
fiscal 2002, which ended December 31, 2001, to be between $0.10 and $0.11 per share, which is above the analysts
estimate of $0.07 to $0.08 per share. OSI Systems will announce second quarter earnings after market close on
Tuesday, January 29, 2002.

``Our security business continues to build momentum despite the fact that the FAA has not yet placed any significant
orders after the passage of the recent Aviation Security bill,'' said Deepak Chopra, OSI Systems' Chairman and CEO.
``We await their decisions on orders of TRX systems and are hopeful that they will consider a broad implementation of
our body scanning technology as a means to ensure passenger safety. Our recently announced large cargo backlog of
approximately $27 million gives us a good degree of visibility and continued momentum.

``Quotation activity is strong and requests are coming in from a wide diversity of customers, both government and
corporate. We have picked up many new accounts all over the world and will look towards continuing to expand these
relationships in the coming months,'' concluded Chopra.

While the increased interest in Rapiscan's products might result in additional sales, OSI Systems cannot evaluate the
amount and/or timing of the sales increases that may result.

Paul, OSIS closing in on 20. Looking really good going forward. I think there's a fair chance ASE will do the same.
