Jay I will be in Europe (Germany/Netherlands) this weekend and next week Tues and Wed night in Singapore. All I see here is "slowdown" from an unsustainable pace. Roads are crammed with huge new SUVs in Princeton. No vacant property in sight, talked with a guy at an optical communications startup (Princeton PhD) just got VC funding. Lots of big new houses at outrageous prices. Only negative I heard from anyone was the guy who just got a job at Penn State and mentioned that because their funding is tied to state tax revenue they are putting in a hiring freeze. But not firing. Of course Ford are firing 35000 and so now the Princeton researchers are beginning to worry that their $5million from Ford will disappear. I need to get to look at my presentation I am giving soon... I think gold went up because Newmont looks like winning the bidding war for Normandy. David
