You're right, in a pure democracy all it takes is a majority to force everyone else to do what they want, regardless of principle.

I think it's worth dying to keep other people from being killed, and I think it's worth dying to preserve the right of people to worship freely, but I don't think it's worth dying or killing to preserve the right of some people to have access to a certain place where they want to worship.

Christ said wherever two or more gather in His name, He is there. He doesn't need a church, and I doubt very much that He'd want people to kill each other over access to Jerusalem. JMO.
