other than being run by a madman I see Hitler as the logical outcome of German Philosophy at the time. History courses in this country see him as a "Jack Booted anti-Semite". I see him standing in the Reichstag in 1932 and screaming to his followers, "You are nothing, the state is everything!" Bill Shirer lived though his regime, reported from there in the thirties, wrote "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich", the most popular book ever written about the regime, and, IMO, never really understood what was really going on.
