Marc, Not that wide a range. There may be one, but I haven't seen it. I read a book about the search for the historical MacBeth and enjoyed it. And another about Robert the Bruce that was very good. But I gave both to different friends and cannot remember the authors. Carolly Ericson is the best on Mary Queen of Scots, who is not a favorite of mine. She never really did a lot other than get married and rule Scotland badly and get her head chopped off. There is also a book of fiction about The Black Douglas that I enjoyed, but it never explained the color scheme to me: Why there are red and black Douglasses and white and red Comyns.

Most of the rest I've read is a part of other histories, such as those of the English Kings or the Roman days. I did read a sort of survey book on the Royal House of Stuart that I bought in Edinburgh Castle, but it was pretty mediocre.

I hope somebody else can help you.
