Tough business, and a smallish business as well ... here are the top seven - ca.finance.yahoo.com
.. market caps in billions USD -
abx 9.3
au 4.2
nem 3.9
pdg 3.9
gold 2.6
fn.to 2.2
ndy.to 2.2
... total 28.3b US ... not that much really ... as i love to remind Mqurice over on the old collapse thread, qcom alone has a market cap of 35.6b - ca.finance.yahoo.com
.. then all the mid-caps, Kinross and Meridian and Tvx etc, could you add them up to ten billions? - possibly, but not much more ... certainly all my favourite juniors together do not carry a cap of one quarter bilion

Liz, have you ever looked at the National/Alamos Salamandra deal? ... i'd be curious as to your thinking on it, especially if you'd gone into it in detail and then decided to wait or take a pass on it, for whatever reason ... i like it very much, the two companies today each with market cap of around 3.5mUS and each with half of Salamandra, fairly proven [?] resources and certainly proven management in Millar, not a lot of cash in the kitties but enough to function .... i haven't gone into the geology detail of it, never do, and while i can see reason for raw nerves in the case of National because it sounds like Matter wants to do other deals, which set up Fear of Financing, still i really like it based on all story to date ... cannot understand why it is so cheap, what am i missing? ... pull no punches here, we can take it -g- ... invitation stands to anyone else who has looked at ngt or aas and passed on them, and can elucidate on the reasons ... too early-stage for many of course, quite understandable that, still such a speculator will have thoughts while watching them ... cheers, all
