Larry as part of my "turnips'" armamentarium, I use percentage of stocks above their 200 DMA in various sectors (Les provides a daily listing on his thread). It is somewhat similar to that index in that it looks for extreme, and turns from extremes.

Hey, Larry, check what happens when the 20-day EMA crosses over the 1st time in an uptrend on the $BPNDX and BPCOMPQ. You will find it quite revealing (we've discussed this here before).
