the desire for all people (including those we see as enemies) to share equal economic, physical, and spiritual opportunity to grow and express the life-force within them.
Some of them have sworn to use their life force to extinguish mine. Pardon me, but I don't intend to let them.

maybe that's why old people don't live forever... they tire of pursuing their most difficult goals, become jaded, give up, and settle for less.
And maybe with time, body parts wear out, the genes needed to regenerate them turn off, and....?
Everything that happens to you doesn't happen between your ears. That's only one organ of your body.

there's another avenue we should be pursuing. sure,
it includes some force for defense and self
preservation, but it also must include a basic premise
of human brotherhood and the desire for all people
(including those we see as enemies) to share equal
economic, physical, and spiritual opportunity
to grow and express the life-force within them.

I agree.

With great power comes great responsibility.

That's a lesson that wise societies have known since the days of Greece and Rome, if not before.

The founders of our country believed that the study of Greek and Roman history was essential to a freedom loving people. When I was in school, Latin was a required subject. Today, very few schools still offer it.

To our significant loss as a nation, IMO. Because the Greek and Roman concept that power and responsibility wer conjoined could help us tremendously today.
