wbmw, I don't understand. Was there a 2Ghz Northwood or not? I saw a bunch of reviews of 2Ghz Northwoods. Anyway, let's assume there were only 2.2Ghz Northwoods. Intel not only shrank the .18 P4 but it also went to a copper process which I am sure provided additional benefits. AMD has already reaped those benefits so their initial jump in frequency cannot be as great. As of my conjecture, I was merely countering Paul's asinine statement.
