well, i would point to two things about the 30's. 1) FED chief Benjamin Strong died just prior to the crash of 1929 and the FED remained impotent and leaderless for years thereafter. 2) herbert hoover presided as president during the 30's and it was his restrictive policies that caused the great depression, not the crash of 1929.
