Bosquedog!

I used the machine prior to installing the new hard drive. Had the two 32 RAM chips in the lower slots and two 8 RAM chips in the upper slots. The machine at startup only showed 64 Megs of RAM and sometimes only 32. Everything seemed tightly seated. Yesterday I removed the two 8 Meg chips and ran the machine. It showed mostly 64 Megs of RAM but sometimes only 32. Replaced these chips with the four 8 Meg ones and only got 16 Megs of RAM at startup. Then I took these out and installed the 2X32 ones. Mostly the machine noticed the 64 Megs but on occasion only 32.

I am afraid I partitioned and reformatted the old hard drive so testing this now wouldn't give proper results.

Will move the two 32 Meg chips to the upper slots to see what happens. If a chip goes bad, is it totally bad or can it function on some level?

Thanks again and I will keep everyone apprised of my progress.
