Very true, but Cisco's margins are still the highest in the industry. Chambers and Carter are no dummies. They know that you don't compete on price, except as a last resort, and so they have historically tried to defend their margins. I think now that the inventory issue has been solved, new tech product cycles are emerging, and the manufacturing recession is all but over, we'll see a steady climb back to the margins of old. I bet by the end of 2003, Cisco will see great margins again.
