Re Hammer will of course be impressive at launch. The added IPC, and the marginal clock increases will both combine to make a powerful processor. However, I think AMD's model number roadmap looks overly optimistic. I think with the way Pentium 4 is scaling, a 3.0GHz Northwood might be quite close to a M3400+ Hammer, thus making it very hard for AMD to justify their model numbers in the future.

That means, that EVEN IF their process "engine" (that Hector touts) were firing on all cylinders, PALOMINO/Hammer will be eventually outperformed and the facts in:

have their days numbered. Am I missing anything ?
