I agree with you about China. I'm considering putting a little into a fund or index over there. Korea has been on a quite a run.

Hi William,

>>Nice article about the UK...I tell you, China can destroy any, I mean any, industrial base, anywhere in the world, if given the chance. Not long ago, it was either Schlage or Westlocks, the ones that make door-knobs, closed and moved their plant in Mexico to China, not because wages were cheaper, because productivity was 6 times better<<

Your statement above hits the nail on the head for the plant where I work. You can be an absolute slug and no one cares or does anything about it. Supervisors are too busy shuffling papers. Its VERY frustrating working along side young people who don't care and who don't know what work is. (Not that all young people are slugs, but many hired in the last couple years are scary) I wonder how they dress themselves sometimes.

I know our plant could be alot more productive if supervisors paid attention to the workers. If you're on a job and produce 100 widgets and tomorrow a slug does the same job and makes 60 widgets and some are not right, nothing is said to the slug. They are kept and eventually are hired full time. (Most employees start out as part timers.)

Regards, Cindy
