Bosquedog:

I am happy to report I finally got Windows 98 loaded on my
old machine. The first two RAM slots were not working but the bottom two are fine. Got 2X32 chips from Dell which work fine on the bottom two slots. Thanks for the info on memory chips which you posted. I thought a memory chip was like a light bulb. When it went bad it was dead. Evidently my chips would pass the memory test at startup even though they were faulty. Sometimes at startup the machine would show 32 Megs of RAM rather than 64. I decided something must be wrong so I gambled and ordered new ones from Dell.
Now all I have to do is figure out why my new 40 Gig Seagate ST 340810A is only showing 8.8 Gigs at the bottom of drive C:. In setup it is showing the full 40 Gigs. Think I will download a new BIOS from Dell and see if that helps.

Thanks once more for your help!
