Who is Gigaphoton?

Is that a new name for Komatsu's DUV business, or is this some new company?

Nice to see some familiar faces coming back. I see our activity has put Cymer back in the Hot Subject list. Did anyone listen to the Cymer presentation at the Jan 8 Needham & Company Growth Conference? I think that the information from that is what may have been responsible, at least in part, for inspiring Morgan Stanley to issue that glowing report. I've just been listening to the replay (http://www.twst.com/econf/mm/needham/cymi.html) and heard some interesting facts. Cymer has 1633 lasers installed worldwide as of the end of Q3, and have more DUV unit installations of their product than any two of their direct customers (i.e. the toolmakers) combined. Last year CYMI market share against Ushio has been increasing since Ushio has had trouble mass-producing their product. ArFl is now the cutting-edge technology, KrFl is the volume-producing technology. ArFl has significantly higher ASPs and will become the dominant revenue driver around 2004. Akins thinks Cymer has a good chance of becoming a bilion-dollar company in this cycle, if they can continue their present rate of growth. Cymer is "investing like crazy in R&D." Have self-obsoleted their products 4 or 5 times now and plan to do so in the future. They're working on more powerful lasers so that 300mm wafers can have same exposure time as 200mm do presently. Have made substantial improvements in operating efficiency that should pay off in the coming upturn of the cycle. Cymer produces products in 4 wavelengths, which presents a powerful obstacle to competitors, who have 'a product'.
