Yep. The serial model might work (it said for pre-97 and NT computers) but I got the USB one anyway, being optimistic. Then decided I better call customer service and upon reaching an appropriate person was surprised to learn that it would not work. Perhaps once they update the drivers for WinXP they will incidentally provide Win2K support. So much for the gimmick that encouraged my selection of the CC - it has seen far less use than I anticipated.
