Well, most of us are fully aware most human beings have both good and evil in their makeup, with vastly different percentages involved depending on the individual, but I am not claiming the individuals you mentioned were inherently evil. Perhaps they were a sad mixture of several things, with a touch of evil thrown in for good measure.
