If you want to discuss equal rights, call it that.. Don't jusify an extremist position when it's not appropriate, or acceptable for a man to advocate the opposite position.

Hawk,

I have no serious idea who you are or what sort of person you consider yourself to be. But there are at least two very obvious things wrong with this reply. First, you can't capture the complicated thoughts of a social movement by word plays such as feminism and masulinism. Just won't work. Might be fun around the dinner table but it's not serious.

Second, you have taken the worst stereotypes about feminism (and there are some fairly bad ones out there) and talked as if they characterized the entire movement and, what's more, the way it has transformed American society in the thirty some years of its existence. Not a good thing.

I would like to believe you are who you say your are. That is, you are as you picture yourself in this post, someone who cares about equality between males and females and have just had some bad experiences with some folk who called themselves feminists (and don't like the public spokesfolk for NOW, not hard to do, frankly, though for different reasons from my side). But there is the possibility some women (or men, for that matter) in your life have been giving you a justifiable hard time. Can't tell from here.

John
