Yes, 'moenmac,' I am self-employed but have not always been. However, as aging baby boomers, we now face extremely volatile, uncertain futures particularly as self-employed. I'm sure you realize this. BTW: When are you planning on retiring? If you aren't already...I haven't seen enough of your posts to know if you're already financially independent or not. Heathcare costs are rocketing ... right now ... as they have over the past 20 years. Just as boomers are entering the decades where we'll finally need more and more services. Are you prepared to support yourself ... and family, sounds like ... paying your own way WITHOUT social security? For the next, what: 40 years? I'm not in that position, and with the insecurity of 'investing' in ANYTHING to earn even something like 6% per year (impossible at risk-free) ... WHAT TO DO? bia
