then they own the problem and must re conquer the territories

Well, that seems to be the only thing left on the cards at the moment. Can't see any other peace proposal accepted by either side.

In my simplistic model, the borders and peace terms are moved around until the maximum number of "magnets" line up. i.e. the maximum number of Israeli and Palestinians agree to peace. Then the remaining dissenters are quieted by whatever method is appropriate, and there are several legitimate humane methods too I expect.

With current Israeli policy, that randomly targets (apparently) Palestinian civilians with land and property confiscation, I see no move to peace, from a Palestinian point of view it must look hopeless.

Regarding Rabin's assassin, my suspicion is he was not acting entirely alone. Arafat could go the same way I guess... the "lone assassin"....

The Palestinian population is growing. Unless they are all "done away with". Even if they are all evicted, Israel still has the problem on it's hands. Running the country with a Palestinian majority in Government is a real possibility that needs considered at some time in the future imho. Somehow a "hate reduction" program needs set up first and run for about a generation.
