Seoul shares end down 3.4 pct led by Samsung Elec

SEOUL, Jan 15 (Reuters) - Seoul shares lost more than three percent by Tuesday's close, with top memory chipmaker Samsung Electronics Co <05930.KS> yielding to heavy selling ahead of its release of fourth-quarter results.

Samsung fell after media reported its pending results, revealing figures broadly in line with market expectations.

Company officials declined comment on reported results ahead of its official announcement on Wednesday.

Samsung dropped 5.45 percent to 312,000 won, a day after a 17-month closing high.

The Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) <.KS11> fell 3.41 percent to 718.64, off a session low 716.34.

The over-the-counter Kosdaq <.KQ11> declined 2.56 percent to 73.19.
