UVEW uniView Technologies Signs Multi-Million Dollar Contract With Metrophone
Telecommunications Inc. for Model 310 VOD Deployment uniView Digital
Entertainment Devices to be Deployed in Hospitals Throughout Washington State

DALLAS, Jan 15, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- uniView Technologies Corporation
(Nasdaq:UVEW) today announced it has signed a $5.7 million contract with
Bellevue, Wash.-based Metrophone Telecommunications Inc. to deploy nearly 12,000
uniView(R) Model 310 VOD digital entertainment devices.

The devices will be installed in patient rooms at approximately 53 healthcare
facilities throughout the state of Washington, with plans for nationwide
distribution by 2003.
The 310 VOD will be configured for Internet access, music
downloads, video on-demand, and patient training segments such as how to reduce
a fever or treating wounds. The first order of 1,000 digital entertainment
devices is scheduled for delivery during March 2002.
The contract period is for
three years and initially involves the purchase of nearly 12,000 units, with the
option to increase the number of units throughout the life of the contract.

"We evaluated a number of digital entertainment devices from other companies
with no success, but with uniView, we finally found a product that delivers on
its promises," said Amir Heshmatpour, CEO for Metrophone. "Since the uniView 310
now has the capability to run Windows(R) XP, which provides a strong networking
capability, we are able to supply a fully functioning superior media solution in
addition to providing an enhanced revenue base to hospitals throughout the
country."

uniView also will develop a customized graphical user interface (GUI) that will
display the Metrophone brand, as well as each hospital that uses the device. The
GUI will guide the users to pre-selected entertainment options, while at the
same time protecting the operating system from being altered or damaged. In
addition, the product will be designed for portability to different end user
application venues such as hospitality settings, and to different end user
devices such as KING Products' CyberCafe and QuorTech Solutions' eMillennium(R)
products.

"We are excited to be taking the next step from the development phase by
introducing our 310 technology to the marketplace now that our agreement with
Metrophone has been finalized," said Patrick A. Custer, CEO for uniView
Technologies. "We are now prepared for full deployment of our digital
entertainment devices as we continue to discuss options with companies
interested in our product."
