Every wonder how defrag optimizes your hard drive?

When you have a taskmon task running, every time that you start a program, taskmon creates a file in your Windows/Applog folder. These files have a file type of lgc. If you open one of these files with a text editor, such as notepad, you can see the application extensions that the application uses. Taskmon can then use these lgc files load your applications faster.

When you run defrag, it looks at these lgc files and calculates how many times you have run each application and records this information in a text file in the Windows/Applog folder - Optlog.txt. If you open this file with notepad, you will see how defrag has optimized your hard drive.

The first fifty most used programs are optimized for speed. Over time your most frequently used programs will slowly be moved to the front of this list.

But let's say that you have stopped using one of your old favorite programs in favor of a new program. Maybe you don't want to have this old program optimized. All you have to do is delete the lgc file with that program's name from the Windows\Applog folder. The next time that you run defrag, the old program will not be optimized.

You can use this technique to optimize the programs that you want to load fastest. Simply delete the lgc files for programs that are in front of the program that you want optimized until your program makes the top fifty list.
