RE:"In addition, the AMDroids favorite search engine, Pricewatch, shows plenty of vendors carrying 2.2GHz Northwood chips. A search for "Northwood 2.0" will also show a good number of vendors offering the 2.0GHz chip."

What is the big deal?
I'd say the 2.2 Ghz Northwood is just as available as the 2000+ XP. As a matter of fact there was a 2.2 NW box in the sundays ads this week.

NW takes a new socket but that hasn't seemed to stop Intel in the past.

wbmw, I agree with you and fingolfen and for the first time it shows that Intel may be content to make $$$$ and not try to finish off AMD. In the long run it may be good for both companies to co-exist in this manner. Maybe Intel figures Jerrihad is about to leave so no need to go for the jugular.
