Getting the economy growing again is 50X more important than balancing the budget ( which is a relatively insignificant detail of financing the total spending. )

There is the issue of budget surplus/deficit, and there is the issue of the recession.

Here's his speech. You figure out if he lied. There are other lies in it like a claim that you could pay off the entire national debt....even the non-callable debt?. Feinstein was one of 12 Dems who voted for the tax cuts and obviously was distancing herself from Daschle's claims.
