Corzine became a bond trader at Goldman Sachs in 1975 after working at Continental Illinois National Bank and BancOhio Corp. He became a partner of the third-largest securities firm in 1980 and assumed leadership in 1994.

In 1998, Corzine was among bankers who orchestrated a $3.6 billion bailout of Greenwich, Connecticut-based Long Term Capital Management after the hedge fund collapsed with $4 billion in losses.


Could be that he's trying to distance himself between his former job and the upcoming derivatives-propelled fiasco...
