You think that is the "concession" the Japanese had in mind? Find me anything in the surrender that says the Emperor is to have any power, or remain in power. It says "unconditional," and that is what it meant.

No, I don't. The point of virtually all of the American leaders (Admirals, Chiefs of Staff, etc.) was that Japan knew they were defeated, and that they were trying to negotitate a Surrender of honour--one that recognized the divinity of their Emperor.

I don't pretend to support such a stupid divinity claim--anymore than I support your "Jesus" claim, or your moral superiority.

My only point is that (like virtually all of the military and moral leaders at the time), I believe the fire bombing and the a-bombing were illegal and immoral.

When Hirohito made his first appearance before his people (who had never seen him before), he quickly told them that (Surprise!) I am not divine. He told them, I am just a mere mortal like you, after all. So much for Divinity

The Japanese Jesus, I guess. So much for that. If nobody had called the bluff...who knows???
