Sec of Treas. Paul ONeill appeared on Charlie Rose (PBS) last night. He explained that he didn't tell GWBush about the Enron plea for help because he handled it himself by saying NO. It doesn't seem likely that this Enron scandal will hurt the President or his Cabinet, etc, for dealing with the world's 7th largest company was merely "business as usual". I'm certain Cheney had no idea of Enron's imminent collapse when in the course of "business as usual" he gave them concessions.

I think we're all lucky that Enron failed. Now to untangle their web of deceit. On a small scale Enron's dummy companies (there were 3000) would hire small contractors and not pay , expecting the small companies would go so far into debt they'd go bankrupt and be unable to sue. They took bank loans that were to pay for project phase completion and diverted it into other areas.
