<< Demonstrating their contempt, the Waqf authorities decided to install a latrine on the roof of the Church. >>

I wonder what would happen if Arafat, and his buddies in the Palestinian terrorist groups, got control over all of the Christian sites in the area. Would they hold the birthplace of Christ for ransom, or would they destroy it, like their comrades, the Talibans, destroyed religious sites in Afghanistan?

The Palestinians first target is the Jews. Their second target, Christians, who have already been victimized, would be next.

However, Islam in general is not at all receptive to infidels, Jewish or Christian

Do you know anything about Islam? I'm not talking about the BS being fed through the news everyday. In Islam, Jews and Christians are highly regarded as "People of the Book". Jews, Christians, and Muslims pray to the same God. Historically, under Islamic rule, Jews and Christians were given favorable treatment in such things as taxes. As a matter of fact, Jews and Christians have always favored Islamic rule instead of Byzantine rule! It's unfortunate that in the last 200+ years we have not seen ONE Islamic country. All of today's Islamic rulers are corrupt, brainwashing and oppressing their people, but that does not mean you condemn the religion... and this goes for all the world religions.

Yes, in the past nearly all the wars were under the banner of some religion or belief. But guess what? That's just an excuse for basic human nature to pursue land, power, greed, etc. And guess what? We would still have wars without religion! A secular mentality is not going to stop war. Just look at the US? From the rest of the world's perspective, especially the victimized countries, the US is a major instigator of war. Why? Because we have our "interests". Of course, having it so good, living in this country, it is easy to not understand the other side... partly because we are being censored of what really goes on in the world. Instead, we're kept busy and entertained with BS talk shows, scandals, political soap operas, etc....
