Germany and Russia both invade Poland at the same time - and divide the country

Yes,Britain and France then declared war on Germany, and ignored the Russian attack.

The attack by Hitler was to get Danzig back, and set up a takeover of Russia and the Ukraine, thus giving Germany the "Breadbasket" they did not have in WWI. Stalin was both scared to death of Germany, and looking for territory.

If Britain and France had not declared war after the attack on Poland, Germany and Russia would have fought it out in the next few years..

The Fascists vs the Communists, a war that would have left us out, along with the rest of Europe.
