The particular project that got us started on them is developing software that manipulates video streams. But, in general, 650 meg (CD-ROM) just isn't enough for a number of archiving/data-transfer needs we are seeing.

Our mapping people will be the next group to move to them (and could really use them now). Our GIS (Map) work is using more and more raster data in addition to vector data, which makes storage needs go up quickly. There are also some task specific needs that are driving the use of larger vector data sets.
