If was a figure of speech and is a slang representation of those folks who mainly make up the front lines, ie working class poor more than any other class. If you need to make something out of it, I rescind the words, they were a bad choice, but mostly accurate in terms of who it is who gets killed in warfare. They were great men who gave their lives for rich old men who needed to have young courageous men killed. Is that better?
