It would seem that while Europe and the US have progressed beyond colonialism much of the world has not.

I agree with your premise of how border disputes should be settled but most wars have greater things driving the cause than borders. Usually, it amounts to resources or strategic locations. Any way no country even our pure hearted USA has the right to violate borders.
